Driver Manager

Truck drivers in today’s environment are a special breed. Successful management of drivers requires a special individual. The ability to communicate positively to a variety of personalities is critical.     Some of the responsibilities of the position are:
  • Direct daily activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking trucks and trailers.
  • Plan, organize and manage the work of drivers to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational and customer requirements.
  • Serve as contact persons for all assigned drivers.
  • Serve as advocate for all assigned drivers. Work to insure the wellness.
  • Communicate schedule and policy changes to truck drivers.
  • Promote safe work activities by attending company safety meetings and meeting with individual drivers.
  • Issue advances and purchase orders to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved company guidelines.
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance to equipment and vehicles with appropriate staff.
  • Monitor operations to ensure that assigned drivers comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, and government regulations.
  • Monitor driver's performance to insure on time service, PeopleNet integration and MPG guidelines

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred

Customer Service Representative

Quality service is critical in today’s transportation environment. WEL is seeking quality people who can work in a fast paced, sometimes stressful environment and provide quality service both internally and externally. Positive communication skills and attitude are required. Transportation experience and a bachelor’s degree are preferred, but not required.

    Some of the responsibilities of the position are:
  • Confer with customers by telephone, email, web or in person in order to provide information about loads and services, to take orders or to obtain details of complaints.
  • Resolve customers' service issues
  • Assist in maintaining trailer pools
  • Assist in maintaining trailer and tractor service standards
  • Set load and delivery appointments.
  • Accept load tenders via EDI or other means.
  • Manually enter orders into Innovative system.
  • Monitor and maintain superior service levels.
  • Solicit customer orders from Brokers as needed.
  • Monitor industry trends
  • Analyze capacity and work with planner to be able to meet capacity
  • Assist Sales department on gaining new business

    The qualified candidate attributes are:
  • Education : High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Preferred Experience : One year related experience or Diesel Tech Graduate
  • Minimum Age: 18
  • Computer Skills: Some
  • Certificates Preferred: Air Brake Certification , Annual DOT Certification, AC Certification
  • Preferred License: Class A CDL(but not mandatory)

Transportation Internship

WEL Companies is a leading in refrigerated Transportation in the USA. We are proud to say that our success and growth has come from hardworking individuals willing to learn and grow. Opportunity to grow and learn is important to WEL. Each semester we look for 2 interns.

One of the interns will work with our Operations Department working with our Driver Managers and our extended hours team. The other will work with our Special Operations team working on developing intranet sites, using SQL to pull and analyze data as well as other projects.
