Family-Owned. A Tradition of Customer Service.
Wally Tielens started WEL in 1975 with his two sons, Bruce and Randy. They were truck drivers and began the company as a simple, small trucking business. As with any longstanding and growing family business, the principal employees have taken on new and different responsibilities, including LTL to fully optimized logistics. All while maintaining an understanding of where it all began.
Bruce and Randy Tielens have moved from positions behind the wheel to positions behind a desk over the past 35 years.
Bruce Tielens is President and CEO, he still has the expertise to put himself at ease on “either side of the desk.” That is a very important part of the personality at WEL: competency in all facets of the operation. Randy Tielens was the Executive Vice President until his unexpected passing in 2013, though his spirit and energy is still very present at WEL.
The Tielens family has grown the company from a two-truck operation to one with hundreds of tractors and trailers, and over a dozen large-scale warehouses.
Bruce and Randy have furthered the customer service model set forth by their father, Wally, and have instilled the same sense of responsibility to provide impeccable service into their staff. They encourage the WEL team to take pride in the company, and continue to strive and help it grow.
This family tradition feeds the stability that WEL has come to exude. The Tielens have not wavered in their dedication to service, nor in their dedication to growth. Bruce continues to operate as though still part of a small staff, trying to make the best impression possible on all current and prospective employees and customers. Anything less would be unacceptable. It’s a family tradition of excellence, and it will continue.
